Samantha MacDonald, RMT, SEP

Sam offers two complementary approaches to care. As a Registered Massage Therapist, she provides evidence-based, patient-centred treatment for injuries, chronic pain, arthritis, and nervous system conditions—always adapting care to your unique needs. As a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, she supports nervous-system-paced healing, helping clients understand and work with the body’s natural responses to stress and trauma. In both scopes, Sam creates patient-informed care that empowers healing through life’s natural ups and downs.

Massage Therapy (RMT) Sam graduated from West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2012 in Victoria, BC. Since then, she has focused on evidence-based, patient-informed care for a wide range of conditions, including injury recovery, daily overuse, arthritis, chronic pain, and nerve dysfunction. With therapeutic techniques grounded in up-to-date pain science, she creates treatment plans that recognize progress is not always linear—empowering clients to work toward recovery at their own pace. What to Expect: A collaborative approach where your goals, comfort, and consent guide each step. Sessions blend therapeutic techniques with ongoing reassessment to support recovery, ease, and improved function. Somatic Experiencing (SEP) Sam also offers nervous-system-paced Somatic Experiencing®, a body-focused trauma therapy developed by Peter A. Levine, Ph.D., in the 1970s. Unlike traditional talk therapy, SE recognizes that trauma is stored not only in thoughts and emotions but also in the body. This gentle, somatic approach helps clients understand and work with their body’s natural responses to stress and trauma, creating safe opportunities for regulation and resilience. What to Expect: Sessions are guided at a pace that matches your system. Using conversation, guided awareness, and at times supportive touch, you’ll explore body responses, develop steadiness, and build more capacity for daily life.

JoAnn Hill, RCC, RMT

I have an integrative style of counselling that can tailor the therapy to the unique needs of each individual. Top-down methods, such as cognitive-behavioral engage the client’s thoughts, beliefs, and meaning-making systems to promote insight and cognitive restructuring. Bottom-up approaches, like somatic experiencing, address trauma and emotional regulation through the body and nervous system. By blending these perspectives, we can flexibly respond to the presenting issues—whether they stem from cognitive patterns, relational dynamics, or physiological responses—creating a holistic and responsive path toward healing and personal growth.

For the past 19 years, I’ve worked as a massage therapist — a path that’s given me a deep appreciation for how closely our bodies and minds are connected. Through my own life’s ups and downs, I’ve come to see just how much one affects the other: when the body struggles, the mind feels it too, and vice versa. Now, as a person-centered therapist, I offer a space where you can lead the conversation at your own pace, knowing you’ll be met with acceptance and without judgment. Being an integrative therapist means I don’t stick to just one approach. Instead, I draw from a range of therapeutic models — including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and somatic experiencing (SE). Together, we might talk things through, explore sensations in the body to gain insight, and discover tools that fit who you are. Sometimes that could mean using humour, movement, art, worksheets, cards, or music — whatever feels most supportive for you in the moment. What to Expect: Sessions are collaborative and client-led. JoAnn works with you to identify goals, explore emotions, and strengthen coping strategies in a safe and compassionate environment. Massage Therapy (RMT) In addition to counselling, JoAnn also offers massage therapy to address stress, muscle tension, and pain. Her treatments combine therapeutic techniques with a gentle, supportive presence, helping clients restore balance and reconnect with their bodies. What to Expect: Massage sessions are tailored to your needs and comfort, whether you’re seeking relief from pain or simply a space to relax and release tension.
